Delightful
Bitefuls - A Taste of Barbados!
Duration:
4 hours
Cost:
US $49.00
This unique and exciting
tour meanders along the western coastline, passing Holetown
and g
oing through historic Speightstown, stopping at Fishermans
Pub, a delightful, traditional Bajan bar, located
on the beautiful fine, white sandy beach, with waves lapping
gently at the shore. Traditional Bajan Fishcakes (cod fish,
deep fried in a
seasoned batter) and Breadfruit Chips are
served buffet style. The proprietor, Junior,
or the chef will present a demonstration on the preparation
of the dishes. A refreshing beer, rum based drink or soda
is included, to 'wash it down'.
From
the tranquil west coast, the tour goes inland, through sugar
cane fields and quaint villages, with a brief photo stop
at Cherry Tree Hill and a breathtaking view of the east
coast. After passing along the East Coast Road, fringed
with locals summer cottages, another stop is made
at the Round House Inn, with a view of the most
regular surf break on the island, Soup Bowl,
Bathsheba, a regular haunt for Sean and Kelly Slater of
Florida. Here, a traditional Flying Fish sandwich
is served, with a local salad, along with a choice of beer,
rum punch or soda.
The tour now heads back inland and uphill to
Naniki Restaurant, tucked away on a lush hillside,
overlooking the majestic east coast, where a Bread Pudding
is served along with a choice of delicious Vanilla or Rum & Raisin
ice cream.
The return journey through the centre of the island passes
Gun Hill, The Emancipation Statue, Bay Street and the charming capital city of Bridgetown with full bellies and giant smiles!
